Disney Resorts Pt.2

Welcome back, Disney fans. As promised, I am continuing with Disney’s Moderate Resorts. These resorts cost more per night than the Value resorts I went through in my previous blog.  In this category of resorts, we have five, and each one has a different them. Again, I will list them by price, ending with the most expensive.

To start off, we have Port Orleans Resort. It starts off at around $248 a night, and it is two resorts in one. As the name states, this is a resort themed around the Louisiana bayou and the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog. First, there is the French Quarter. This part of the resort is more of what you would expect the French Quarter in New Orleans to look like about a hundred years ago. This resort is in the Disney Springs area and is just a twenty minute boat ride to Downtown Disney and shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. The buildings are arranged in a grid pattern with cobblestone streets to walk along.

The other semi-resort in the big resort is Riverside. This resort is considered more of an adult resort, though I have seen plenty of children running around. The reason I consider it more of an adult resort is because of all the trees around that light can’t come through very well and the only lights at night are along the main pathways. There is an old plantation house that house the more expensive rooms that are themed around Disney princesses. More Tiana from The Princess and the Frog, but there are items any disney fan can find left by other princesses in the rooms.

Now for one of my favorite resorts, Caribbean Beach. Just as the name states, this resort is themed around the Caribbean. When you check out the gift shop, you will see a lot of pirate memorabilia and Pirates of the Caribbean souvenirs. This resort is in the Epcot resort area and is close enough to the park, you can sometimes see and hear the fireworks from Illuminations celebration at dusk. The resort is huge, one of the biggest resorts at Disney World. The resort surrounds one of the many lakes, and has been separated into villages. Each village is named after an island in the Caribbean. There is Martinique, Barbados,  Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Aruba, and Jamaica. To me, this is one of the best resorts. It’s colorful, open, and makes me feel as if I am not at a resort in Central Florida.

Coronado Springs is found in Animal Kingdom area. This resort is themed around Spanish Colonial Mexico. I haven’t stayed at this resort since it is more than I am willing to spend at around $304 a night. Though I have heard that this resort is beautiful and magical, it is where a company can hold corporate retreats due to the conference room available to guests. This a also one resort that is more focused around couples and not families. So if you are looking for a romantic getaway, this would be the resort for you.

The final resort is a section of deluxe resort. It is The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. This is the most expensive of the moderate resorts and one where you have to rent a golf cart to get around. This resort is located in the Magic Kingdom area and is a huge resort. If you like camping, then this resort is for you. It is nestled in a pine and cypress forest and gives the feel of the American frontier. There is wildlife in abundance where you have the chance to see deer, ducks, armadillos, and rabbits. The cabins are roomy and basically you’re roughing it in comfort.
Well, folks, that’s all the moderately priced resorts located around Walt Disney World. Next I will go through the Deluxe resorts.

Until next time.

Disney Resorts

So, you’ve made up your mind to finally take that long awaited vacation and take your family to Walt Disney World. The big question now is, “where to stay”. Do you stay on property at one of the many resorts at Disney World, or do you make a reservation at one of the surrounding hotels, motels, or timeshares for rent. There are many options, but what will be best for you and your family, and still be cost effective?

If you are thinking about staying at one of Disney’s resorts, there are many to choose from with different price ranges. All of the resorts are grouped around the different parks. It’s the park the resorts are closest to. For the purpose of this blog, I am going to start with the cheaper (Value Resorts) and go up in price from there.

There are five different Value Resorts to choose from. Around Animal Kingdom, there are three Value resorts. They are called All-Star Resorts. One of the cheaper All-Star resorts is All-Star Music which is themed around popular music genres, such as country, jazz, rock-n-roll, calypso, and Broadway. This is the music lovers dream because of the large sized music inspired icons located around the outside if the resort and song and dance surprises inside. There is even a guitar shaped pool with a fountain of the Three Caberellos featuring Donald Duck.

The next All-Star resort is All-Star Movies. This resort is themed around Disney movies. Outside there are gigantic dotted pups from 101 Dalmatians and Andy’s playful toys from Toy Story. The main pool of this resort is Fantasia themed with a huge Sorcerer Mickey as the focal point.

There is even a resort for the sports fan in the family called All-Star Sports. It’s the more expensive of the three All-Stars. This resort salutes the world of competitive sports, including baseball, football, surfing, tennis, and basketball. Here you can celebrate your inner fan amongst the sporty décor starring some favorite Disney characters. The main recreational area features a pool with surfboards lining the outside parameter

Everyone knows Wide World of Sports. But did you know that it is also an area of Disney? Here you will find two resorts: Pop Century and Art of Animation. First off is Pop Century. This resort takes you back in time to the 1950s and into the 1990s. You will find some things you might have forgotten that had been born during those years. You will find yo-yos, Play-doh, a giant Rubik’s Cube, and rollerblades. Not to mention a big Mickey Mouse phone and a huge foosball court you can run through.

Art of Animation is the newest of the value resorts, and is mainly focused on families. The rooms are mostly suites with only one area that has standard rooms. It is also the most expensive of the value resorts. Here you will be immersed in Disney animations. The façade of the building is decorated in scenes from some of your favorite films, like Finding Nemo, Cars, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King. This resort also houses the largest resort pool inspired by Finding Nemo. Two other pools are laid out around the resort that are inspired by The Little Mermaid and Cars.

As I mentioned, these are just the Value resorts at Walt Disney World. These resorts are mainly focused around children, but aren’t we all kids when it comes to vacationing at Disney. Up next, I will go through the Moderate Resorts. These are a little more expensive, but they are also themed around something related to Disney.

Stay tuned…

Walt Disney World Resort Hotels

Here's something interesting I have been working on and finally finished.  I think it will give some insight to what resorts cost at Walt Disney World this year.  It is general in nature, but it will link to a future post I am currently working on.

More to come...Happy Vacationing.

Welcome Disney Fans

It's a little known fact that Walt Disney World is the number one vacation spot in the world.  I know I love vacationing in sunny Florida.  In the past three years, I have been to Disney World three times.  I am headed back to the Sunshine State again in December.  My boyfriend and I are both Disney fanatics, which helps make our relationship so dynamic.  It is the one thing we can both agree on when it comes to where we are going to go each year.  It is because of him that this blog is what it is.

Now, we all know that because of inflation the price of going on a week long vacation is almost one thing families just can't do anymore.  That's why I am here; to help make a memorable trip for yourself, you and a significant other, or possibly your whole family.

I am not going to go into a whole lot of specifics now, since this is an introductory blog post, but I will give you some hints on what might be coming up next.  I will talk broach the topics of:

  1. deciding if staying at a Disney resort hotel or staying off property is the right choice,
  2. Disney dining plans,
  3. to buy an annual pass or not and the benefits of such a pass, and
  4. the Disney Vacation Club.
These topics are just a few of what I plan on covering in this blog.

So be patient and more will come in the future.

Thanks for visiting.
